The DCF Directors Craft Debates
This is a series of events in which Film, TV and Theatre directors, from the world famous to those in mid career, will exchange experiences in front of an audience of their peers and interested guests. Again, in partnership with DUK and SDUK.
Though some of these events will explore careers on a traditional Q & A basis, others may be on the Swapping Skills ‘crossover’ theme. So for instance a successful film and stage director may be quizzed about their particular approaches to the two media and how artistic preferences developed across their career; or a pair of ‘crossover’ directors may exchange stories about their successes - and failures.
In the First Craft Debate, on July 1st, Phyllida Lloyd, CBE discussed the interplay of film and theatre techniques in her work with Vice Chair Piers Haggard OBE in front of an audience of stage and screen directors. The debate was filmed and will be available in podcast form shortly. We hope to arrange another Craft Debate in the autumn.
